Applies to every job or opportunity posted on the
Multiverse job board or the Campus bounty board.
By posting, you agree to these rules.
The short version: real, specific opportunities only.
Never ask an applicant to pay you, and never collect sensitive personal
or financial information before making a legitimate offer.
Not allowed, ever
- Pay-to-apply or any upfront fee from applicants (equipment, training, background checks, "starter kits")
- MLM, pyramid, crypto-investment, or "be your own boss" recruiting
- Requiring payment via gift cards, Zelle, crypto, or cash to start
- Harvesting personal or financial information (SSN, bank details, "processing" a paycheck) before a legitimate offer
- Impersonating a company or recruiter you aren't authorized to represent
- Off-platform redirects whose purpose is to collect payment or sensitive information
- Discriminatory requirements
Required, but flexible on form
- Honest disclosure of pay structure — including unpaid, commission-only, or equity-only roles. We don't ban these; our community includes plenty of self-employment, short-term, and volunteer opportunities. We just ask you to say so plainly.
- Be a real, contactable person or organization representing what you claim to be. We don't require a corporate domain — mutual-aid and independent postings are welcome — but the posting must be genuine.
- External links are fine. What they lead to matters: never a page whose purpose is to collect payment or sensitive information from the applicant.
What we don't restrict
Self-promotion, gig work, mutual aid, and unpaid learning opportunities are
part of this community and always welcome here — see the Code of Conduct's
allowance for "promoting your work." This policy exists to keep out scams,
not to add generic job-board friction.
Enforcement
Postings that violate this policy may be removed or rejected in moderation
without notice. Repeated or severe violations (impersonation, active fraud)
may result in account suspension. This policy sits alongside, and doesn't
replace, the
Multiverse Code of Conduct
and the school's Terms & Conditions.
